Goal reviews

Now is the time for your 2015 goal review!

With the year half over, now is the time to check in with those goals you set yourself at the start of the year.  You know the ones that you wrote down and were adamant you were going to achieve!

For goal setting to work you need to be continually looking at the result you want and the steps required to get there.  This is crucial to run and grow a successful business.  Not only does it give you direction but encourages you to reach beyond your perceived limits.  Goal setting opens your mind to bigger possibilities.

So dust off that list you created at the beginning of the year.  If you have achieved any, give yourself a pat on the back and reward yourself.  Now focus on the goals that you have not achieved (or even started working towards).

Think about what actions are needed to kick-start results.  Write the to-do list to accomplish each of those goals.  Moreover, go one step further and put a deadline date next to each action.

You need to commit to goal reviews regularly for the rest of the year.  Don’t just say you will do it, schedule goal reviews in your calendar.  By doing this, you will remain committed to accomplishing your business and personal goals.

Remember the business world is always changing.  A goal or two you set at the beginning of the year may no longer be relevant, for example if your market has changed significantly, or a new technology or product has emerged.

Regular reviews are also the time to make sure that the goals you set are still relevant.  There is no point working towards a goal simply for a tick on a to-do list if they are no longer meaningful for you personally or professionally.

If you need help to stay on track to achieve your goals think about using a professional coach. A coach is there to help you understand your strengths and weaknesses and help you learn new ways of thinking and applying yourself.

However, the primary benefit of a coach is accountability.  Coaches offer both encouragement and a forced discipline to help you achieve success in the goals you have set.
